*Backstage, Alex Avice knocked on the door of the Krieg’s locker room. He was a bit hesitant, after the brutal beating that Kid Flanagan received last week. The Krieg seemed a little on edge, beating down the Syndicate Champion with a callous, uncaring brutality as Kaja Reinhardt looked on with approval. As the door opened, Avice got a glimpse inside at the two monsters…however, Kaja slipped between the thin crack in the opened door and closed it immediately.*
Kaja Reinhardt: I assumed it was you. Always one to stick your nose in everyone’s business when a conflict occurs, right?
Alex Avice: That’s what I get paid for!
*Avice forced a chuckle, but Kaja merely stared at him blankly. Over the past six months, he’d seen the cold German women open up a little and even crack a smile on occasion, when discussing the success of her Maschinen. However, over the past few weeks Kaja Reinhardt seemed to turn back into the Ice Queen that she was when she first arrived in Pride.*
Alex Avice: Well, enough jokes for today…
Kaja Reinhardt: Agreed…
Alex Avice: …okay, well. Miss Reinhardt, last week the audience witnessed a brutal assault on the Syndicate Champion, Kid Flanagan, at the hands of the Maschinen. If you don’t mind, I must ask…what were the reasons for such an unmerciful beating?
Kaja Reinhardt: Actually, Alex, I would prefer not to walk about it. However, I can assure you that I have my reasons. Kid Flanagan crossed the wrong person more times than can be simply ignored. I guess you can say that his childish attitude finally caught up to him.
Alex Avice: And his championship has nothing to do with it? For a team so successful, the Krieg has yet to get their hands on any sort of tangible reward here in Pride. Could this be the beginning of a push for singles’ championships for Somba and Balraj?
Kaja Reinhardt: Championships? Alex, we have no use for championships. They are merely a reminder to everyone of an individual’s success. One simply has to look at Somba and Balraj to realize how dominant and successful they can be and how dominant they are. Kid Flanagan can keep his Syndicate Championship, because neither of my Maschinen wants it. Perhaps the golden trinket will keep him company in the hospital after Balraj destroys him.
Alex Avice: Wow.
Kaja Reinhardt: …wow?
Alex Avice: Those are some really strong words. Perhaps it isn’t my place, but in my experience, Kid Flanagan’s a generally likable…well, kid. I’m sure that whatever happened was a misunderstanding. Why is there such a hatred for him?
Kaja Reinhardt: Alex, are you familiar with the phrase…fuck up?
Alex Avice: A little too well…
*Avice cringes, probably because he’s been called a fuck up a lot.*
Kaja Reinhardt: That is what Kid Flanagan is. He shows up weekly in his panda costumes and his airheaded demeanor. He goes out there and loses constantly, but he never learns from it. He never changes his approach. His backstage attitude is just as annoying. After a series of run-ins, I’m sick of seeing Kid Flanagan in this company. We are here as warriors, fighting on a weekly basis…a man such as Kid Flanagan undermines everything that this roster does. He must be put in his correct place…and I can’t think of anyone better equipped to do so than Balraj.
Alex Avice: Wow…I guess that’s one way to look at it. I guess asking you what you expect to happen tonight would be kinda pointless now, wouldn’t it?
*Kaja nods her head and begins to back into the locker room.*
Kaja Reinhardt: Just be sure that you’re watching, Alex. Tonight, the Krieg will show the rest of the locker room why crossing us is the biggest mistake that they could make.
*And she slinks back inside, leaving Avice a bit confused. Kaja, always a bright spot in the Krieg, now seemed just as cold and unwavering as her Maschinen. Bad news for Kid Flanagan.*
