Stephen Callaway sits in an empty locker room wearing his ring attire. He casually looks around the locker room at the lockers and chairs before looking at the camera
Stephen
"Despite a Pitbullshit related mild concussion, the time has come: Josh Eagles the Pride World Champion, versus Stephen Callaway in a one on one singles contest. The only downside? It's a non title contest on the weekly telly show."
He stands up and walks over to locker number '22' and wipes it with the cloth in his hand. He turns and leans against the locker.
Stephen
"I could face Josh and beat Josh this Sunday but what does it win me? I can't win the title 'cause it's a non title match. I can't be named the number one contender because Eddie Nash got there last weekend. A victory this Sunday wins me nothing except brownie points and bragging rights. It allows me to tell Kurt and tell Jeremy that I beat the World Champion that I deserve a shot for the gold in the future."
He sits down on the bench.
Stephen
"I got a bit of a laugh the other day when Jason Haven told me last week that he would win the big one only for him to fall the way I said he would. I'm not gonna sit here and claim that I'm going to beat Josh in a one sided encounter when I'm not. Nor am I gonna sit and guarantee a victory over the World Champion. I admit that statistically speaking I should lose to Josh Eagles. That I should be beaten and be beaten swiftly. That doesn't mean that I'm not going out there to try. The odds of winning the lottery are slimmer than a supermodel but people still try. The peeps put their numbers on weekly in the hope that their numbers will come up and their lives will be changed with a cheque for millions.
That's my match with Josh. I shouldn't win but I've put my ticket on, so to speak, I've been to the gym, I've studied the tapes and I've trained all in the hope that my numbers will come up this Sunday and I'll get the jackpot pay out. If I win, I win and I'll celebrate. If I lose then I go back to the drawing board and hope a new set of numbers brings me better luck."
He picks up a bag from the floor and takes it to the locker.
Stephen
"I want to be the world champion. I need to be world champion and I intend to do everything I have to do in order to become the champion. I defeat Josh this Sunday it's a step closer. I add that to some good wins over the next two months and come the May Super-card I could be the number one contender.
One way or another, I will be the top man here in Pride. Everything I do in this company I do with Pride. I take pride in my appearance, I am clean, I smell right, my hair is combed. I wear the right clothes and I am always neat and tidy. In my work, I try as hard as I can. I work as hard as I can to the point that sometimes I come home barely able to walk. If I'm not training I'm watching tapes or traveling to and fro from arena to arena. I take pride in everything I do, and the very day I become the Pride World Champion will be the proudest moment in my entire wrestling career. Jeremy and Kurt named me as the number one contender, last month, due to the pride I have displayed.
This Sunday is just step one in my quest for the top. Like my first driving test it shows what I need to work on for the next time. I passed my test first time. I shocked my instructor with that pass. I told him that I could pass and he never believed me. I can win against Josh. I'm telling you all now as I sit here that I can beat him. Laugh if you want, say to me 'It won't happen' like Kenny told me. For you will all be sitting shocked this Sunday when I beat Josh despite me telling you all."
He stands up and leaves the locker room. We go to black
