Battered. Beaten. Bloody. The future of the Maschinen wasn’t clear, but none of that mattered at the moment. They were able to emerge from Winter Warfare as the most dominant team in Pride…and were able to defeat their Otbet enemies after the show. Now, the beasts known as Somba and Balraj were once against directionless in Pride. However, that had been the case before and the Maschinen were perfectly content with beating people up and biding their time.
Alex Avice, as usual, meets the Krieg almost as soon as they enter the building. Kaja simply sighs, used to Avice’s weekly queries.
Alex Avice: “One again, let me apologize for my intrusion at Winter Warfare…”
Kaja waves a dismissive hand.
Kaja: “No need. At least everything worked out in the end…It might not have been easy, but a victory over the Renaissance and the Otbet was quite fulfilling at the end of the night.”
Alex Avice: “I see. It seems like this silver cloud has a dark lining, however. With their loss, it appears that the Renaissance is no more. And I would assume that the Otbet have been put out of action as well?”
Kaja nods slowly, silently hoping that Avice’s presumption was correct.
Alex Avice: “So it appears that the Krieg are out of challengers again…”
Kaja: “It would appear so. However, this was also the case for most of our tenure in Pride. All we can really do is fight the matches that we are assigned and move forward. After our war with the Otbet and matches against the Renaissance, some downtime might be a welcomed change of pace.”
Alex Avice: “I wouldn’t exactly call your opponents tonight ‘downtime.’ You’re facing the pair of Orge Lambart and Silence. Together, they’re probably the largest opponents that your Maschinen have ever faced.”
Kaja shook her head slowly.
Kaja: “The largest? Perhaps. The most difficult? Nothing leads me to believe that. Just last month, the Maschinen were able to defeat the Renaissance, with their vast experience and knowledge of wrestling. Also, the Otbet had more heart and determination to defeat us than any other two men one could pair together. When it comes to combat, sheer size does have its benefits…but if a team lacks the heart, knowledge, and experience to defeat all obstacles, they’re eventually going to fall.”
Alex Avice: “And your Maschinen…”
Avice turns and looks at the beaten faces of the two monsters.
Alex Avice: “Do they have those traits? Or are they destined to eventually fall?”
Kaja bites her lip and turns to her Maschinen.
Kaja: “Only time will tell, Mr. Avice. Only time will tell. Now, if you’ll excuse us…I believe we have a match to prepare for.”
Alex Avice: “Good luck out there, Miss Reinhardt. Hopefully time is kind to your Maschinen.”
As she turns to leave, she casts a thoughtful, longing glance back towards Avice.
Kaja: “Hopefully…”
