“If you greatly desire something, have the guts to stake everything on obtaining it.”
The scene begins moments after the latest broadcast of Oblivion went off the air. Robbie Venom is pacing backstage, breathing heavily after his match and the resulting brawl with Stephen Callaway afterwards. As the scene begins, Alex Avice quickly approaches Robbie with a microphone in hand and a camera man in tow.
"Robbie! Robbie Venom!"
"The Antidote" turns a stern glare on the approaching interviewer. Now is obviously not a good time. "Have you seen Callaway?" he attempts to make some use of Avice, but Alex frowns.
"What?"
"Stephen Callaway!" Robbie raises his voice. "Did you see where he went?"
Alex shakes his head. "I'm sorry, I didn't..." Growing concern starts to show on Alex's face as he watches Robbie continue to pace and mutter to himself. "Robbie... maybe you should find Shawn. Things have got awfully heated between you two and Epic Angle; the last thing you want before Death's Desire is to get jumped by those two alone."
Turning back towards Alex, Robbie scoffs at the suggestion. "I'd like to see them try. I'll be waiting and I'll take on both of those bastards."
"With all due respect, Rob-"
"What!?" Venom yells, taking a step towards Alex, who quickly backs up. "I'm sick and tired of getting jumped week after week! Two matches I've had here in KoP, and not ONCE have I been able to celebrate my victory before one or both of those assholes took a cheap shot at me. If they want me that bad I hope they do try and find me, because I'll be ready - two-on-one or not."
"Making me feel kind of useless there, partner."
Robbie turns to see his friend and team mate, Shawn Stevens, standing behind him. A serious expression on his face, Shawn appears to be in a more uptight mood than we're used to seeing from him. "I'm sorry, but I've had enough, Shawn. Was it too much to ask that we could enjoy being here for a while? Enjoy our fresh start? No. Not in this business."
Shawn shakes his head. "You've been doing this for how long now, and crap like this still pisses you off?"
"Should it not?" Robbie hisses back.
"Not to the degree where you're gonna stand here playing the macho man, asking to have the living daylights kicked out of you in a fight you can't win."
Typically, this only seems to rouse Robbie and his male pride even further. "Can't win huh?"
"You said it yourself, man - Callaway and Hendrickson are both capable; and they've sure shown it in the last couple of weeks. Capable in the ring, and capable of going and getting what they want. So no, those two against you... not even you can win that fight."
Robbie grunts at that, but before he can argue further Shawn places a hand on his shoulder. "However! With me by your side, that's a whole new ball game. We came here to prove we were the greatest duo this business has ever seen, and now it's time to step up to the plate and knock this one - this being Epic Angle - right out of the park."
After glaring at Shawn for a few more seconds, Robbie sighs. "Fine. But at Death's Desire, we end this. We beat them and it's done - which means I want to make sure they NEVER want to come back for more. You got that?"
Shawn grins. "Like it was ever going to be any other way? We've got this, buddy. We just need to get our heads in the right frame of mind, hand those two douches an ass kicking like they've never experienced before, and Bob's your uncle. You'll get the revenge you desire." Shawn pats Robbie on the shoulder. "And that's only the beginning. Because do you know what I desire? The label of 'The Greatest Tag Team of All Time'. You in?"
After taking a deep breath, Robbie nods. "I'm in."
Grinning, Shawn looks at Alex Avice, who has been avidly watching the entire exchange. "If you'll excuse us, Alex, we have a match to prepare for." He turns back to Robbie. "Come on, buddy."
Robbie nods, and follows Shawn around a corner as the scene fades to black.
