I’ve volunteered to head the role play feedback for Kingdom of Pride, but in doing so, I wanted to inform people of a few things in regards to the way I do it.
Firstly, as most know, I’m a general git. I’m not the nicest person and am not the most verbose. That being said, I think that what I’ve had said about me and my role playing skills should allow me to be a fair judge of role plays. Above all though, this game is subjective. What you might think is your best role play, I’ll absolutely hate. By asking for feedback, you’re accepting that I might not like your work and could absolutely tear it to shreds. This is solely my opinion and others may view it differently, including Kyle (Kurt) and Jeremy who are the sole judges of match role plays. I have no influence in the decisions they make.
To continue on that line, if people take offense to my reviews and get upset, I will just discontinue reviewing your role plays, simple as that. We’re all grown ups and should be able to take criticisms.
I will look to review every role play that is asked, however I do have limited time as well as other commitments. If after every role play you ask for feedback, eventually I will just stop. One every two or three weeks should be a good indicator of improvement in work, or to get my thoughts.
As well, I hope Kingdom of Pride will be somewhere were people read most of the work submitted, as well as critique others. So when I review your piece, you must do the same for at least one other person. Please don’t make this review a simple, I read it and liked it because that helps no one. State what you liked, what you disliked and be candid in your comments. I will be keeping track of this to make sure the rule is being followed, but also to make sure our reviews are of quality. We want to help everyone improve their writing, to make the tales they tell as enjoyable as possible and good feedback is pivotal to this.
If you are my opponent for a week and ask for a review, I will not review your piece during the week. I usually use role plays from my opponents in my own role plays so don’t want to take away from my own work. That being said, I will do them after the week.
Finally, I ask that each role play that you are asking for a review on be placed in a separate topic as opposed to one massive thread. It makes it easier to keep track of which pieces I have reviewed, as well as organized by week.
Thanks,
James
