March 27th, 2011 - The Cookeville Community Center: Oblivion
The scene begins right after Pitbull's match with Obscene. It was the bully's second chance to prove what he is capable of after the initial impression he left at "Survival of the Proud", and if anyone doubted his capabilities after he was unsuccessful in winning the tournament, they surely won't any more. Pitbull made quick work of his opponent - a Kingdom of Pride veteran and mainstay - and in the process stunned all witnesses with his brute force and ruthlessness. Soon enough those same witnesses will come to expect that every single time Pitbull steps into the ring.
As Pitbull steps through the curtain into the backstage area, appearing to have barely broke a sweat defeating Obscene, he is greeted by a smiling Aiden Bamford who wastes no time in patting his client on the back.
"Excellent work, big man," Aiden congratulates, before the two men begin to walk in the direction of the locker rooms.
"It was easy," Pitbull replies dismissively. "I know I have to work my way up, but I need a real challenge. I'm tired of all this child's play. Get me Eddie Nash, or Johnny Noble - they will provide me with meaningful victims, and allow me to set the record straight after Survival of the Proud."
Amused by his client's exuberance, Aiden chuckles. "All in good time. Don't worry, I've already got your next match sorted and I'm sure you'll like it."
"Who is it?" Pitbull asks curiously.
"Kid Flanagan."
After suddenly halting, Pitbull turns to his manager with a frown. "Kid Flanagan? I competed against him at Survival of the Proud, he's done nothing to convince me he will offers a challenge. I'll take no pleasure in beating him senseless, it'll be too easy."
Smiling, Aiden gestures for Pitbull to continue walking, which he does. "Listen to me, Cai, No matter what you think of Kid Flanagan, he is a Champion here. He may not offer you quite the challenge you seek, but beating him will ultimately secure you such challenges."
"How so?"
"You beat Kid Flanagan, you have a claim to a Syndicate Championship shot," Aiden explains. "And I spent a long time as Noble and Sterling's employer, so I know how their minds work and I can easily make that happen. Once I do, you take that title from Kid, then you become a Champion and have a target on your back. That means the best Kingdom of Pride has to offer will come at you thick and fast, determined to take that gold away from you. Why do you think they're called title challengers? Because no wrestler is better than when he has championship gold that close within his grasp."
Pitbull appears to think this over for a moment, before nodding as he sees Aiden's point. "Okay then. I'll make mince meat of Flanagan if that's what it takes. In fact, I'll go one further than that. If the referee doesn't get in there fast enough, I will beat Flanagan so bad he is forced to vacate the championship."
"That's the spirit," Aiden says with a smile as the two men reach the locker room, which is currently empty.
Pitbull heads straight over to a bench and begins to remove the taping around his right fist. "So will you be out there with me next week? I see no need, I can easily deal with Flanagan alone."
"You can deal with anyone in this company alone, but I'll be there to prevent outside interference screwing you over. Kid Flanagan is of a much higher profile than Obscene right now, and as a Champion you're not the only one who will want to stake a claim as his next challenger, making interference far more likely than it was tonight. But as long as I'm out there you won't have to be distracted by that, you can just focus on going about your business and beating Flanagan."
"Annihilating Flanagan," Pitbull corrects.
"Call it what you want, as long as the end result is the same," Aiden replies, before looking down at his watch. "I'm going to head to the car. You hit the shower and I'll wait. There's something else we need to discuss."
Looking at his manager, Pitbull raises an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Aiden smiles. "Trust me, it's a good thing. I'll explain once we've left."
Pitbull is clearly still curious, but before he can conduct any firther questioning, there is a knock at the door. Both Aiden and Pitbull look to see Alex Avice standing in the doorway, microphone in hand.
"Ah, Alex... I gather you're seeking a few words with my client?"
Alex nods. "I'd like to get a few thoughts on his match if that's okay?"
"That's fine," Aiden replies on his client's behalf. "Just keep it short. We have business to attend to - not to mention the fact he's just been through a grueling match," Aiden jokes.
"There's only one man who had a grueling match out there, and it wasn't me," Pitbull grunts as he gets to his feet and walks towards Aiden and Alex, towering over the backstage interviewer.
Seeing the intimidation written all over Alex's face and body language, Aiden chuckles. "Alex, meet Pitbull," he says before turning to his client. "Take care of business then hit the shower. I'll be waiting in the car."
After Pitbull nods in his direction, Aiden exits the room, leaving Alex and Pitbull alone. For a moment Pitbull simply glares at Alex, who appears to have frozen by experiencing the presence of the big, muscular man for the first time.
"Well?" Pitbull finally breaks the silence.
"Huh?"
"Get a move on and ask your damn questions," Pitbull snaps, hardly helping to settle Alex's nerves.
The interviewer does however manage to compose himself somewhat, and after clearing his throat he begins. "Pitbull... that was an impressive victory over Obscene to say the least. What are your thoughts on how the match went."
"I suppose most would say it went smoothly, but that would be sugar coating it far too much. That match was easy - in fact I don't think you can call it a match at all, that would suggest both competitors stood a chance. I did what I had to do and I destroyed my opponent. Now I'm done with him - and beleive me, he won't be coming back for more - and I'm also done wasting my breath talking about him."
"Okay..." Alex says quietly, before moving on. "How about next week then, I hear you will be taking on KoP Syndicate Champion Kid Flanagan..."
"Champion," Pitbull sneers. "Is that how bad a state this promotion is in right now? That a man like that can be called a Champion? I don't know who the management have been throwing at Kid Flanagan as challengers, but his easy ride is about to come to a sudden and brutal halt. He may provide a slightly tougher challenge than that loser Obscene did, but in the end the result will be the same. And then Noble and Sterling will have no choice but to move me up the card and provide me with some real competition - preferably a Pride Three match so I can get my hands on Josh Eagles as soon as possible."
"Do you really think you're ready to face KoP's upper echelon so soon?" Alex asks before gulping, clearly terrified of the reaction that question may provoke.
However, Pitbull simply shakes his head as he continues to glare at the interviewer. "I was ready the moment Sterling and Noble allowed me into their company, and it's only a matter of time. I know it, Aiden Bamford knows it, and once I'm done with the so called Syndicate "Champion" the whole world will know it. I simply have to play the waiting game. But Noble and Sterling should know this: I'm not a patient man. The longer they make me wait for what I want, what I deserve, the worse their other employees are going to get hurt. You saw what I did to Obscene... If you think that was bad, wait until you see me with some frustration to take out. In fact, you won't have to wait too long at all if you don't hurry up and leave me alone."
That's Alex's cue to end this interview, and he takes it without hesitation. "Thanks for our time, Pitbull," he says, before quickly exiting the room.
That leaves us alone with Pitbull for a moment as he cracks his neck and pounds his right fist into his left palm, then leaving is with the final image of that scary, intense look in his eyes as the scene fades to black.
As the weeks go by, Pitbull is beginning to feel more and more like a caged animal, and we all know what happens in that scenario. That animal gets loose and the result is hell to pay. The sooner Kurt Noble and Jeremy Sterling give Pitbull the respect he deserves and take notice, the better - for everyone involved with the Kingdom of Pride.
