It was a different day for me, the turning of a page into the next chapter of the book of Josh Eagles. Pro Wrestling FIRE was no more, my contract had expired and I found myself in a state of transition. Where did I go next, what was my next step? For a week I had found myself wondering that, found myself questioning what my future held. Was I ready to let go of everything I had built, let go of everything I had come from and head back to the big city life. Was Eagles Enterprises my destination now? Maybe it was I truly had felt my company had been going a long time without me, but it was in good hands and I could never find myself worrying about it. But now I found myself thinking about it, remembering it and thinking about the good old days.
I was young when I started it, the ripe young age of 18 full of hopes and ambitions and trying to find away to pay for my wrestling career. But I was a saavy business man and was shocked how quickly I was able to take off. My skills of negotiation were near unrivaled and before I knew it I was the talk of Toronto and quickly expanding. It was then my wrestling career took me to Japan and I found international stardom, but not in the ring but as a man who could flip businesses and talk take overs like no other and it wasn't easy. It had taken a lot of time and effort, but I had built an empire.
Now the question was for me if I went back to my empire to sit back on my throne and live what would still be known as a much less then ordinary life. Or, or was it time that Josh Eagles tried once again to sit on the throne of the wrestling World? If I did where would I go? My name had once again regained some of the meaning it had lost in the past years and I was actually questioning if I was ready to put the time into building myself up again. Or would the name Josh Eagles be enough to give me the shot that I needed? They were tough questions and I knew there was only one real and true way to answer them. I had to pay a visit back home ...
Our scene opens and very unusual for Josh Eagles we find ourselves in the hustle and bustle of a busy street. The street is full of passing cars and foot traffic but we see Josh Eagles, hair cut once again to a respectable length but still worn as though he had just rolled out of bed. He was clean shaven and wearing a fairly nice black business suit and he was standing in front of a building no member of any audience had ever seen before. It was tall, like seventy stories high to say the least and there was a giant brass eagle on the front of the building and under the eagle in the same brass it said EAGLES ENTERPRISES.
This was the renown company that kept Eagles so well funded that he had spent his earlier years building very quickly into a success. Though on a side not there are a lot of rumors that he had outside financial help and connections that he never claims helped him along the way, but there is no actual fact in that statement just an FYI for the viewers. Anyway back to the plot. Josh is standing there looking up at the building and a small smile creeps across his face and he enters the building through it's rotating front doors and is instantly stopped by security. Wearing sunglasses or maybe the fact he is never around makes it so they may not know exactly who he is.
Josh stands patiently as they waive their metal detectors up and down to make sure he is safe and when they find nothing they tell him to come in. Josh nods and smiles and enters the building and heads directly for the elevator. He steps inside the nice marble and glass and presses the button 70. The elevator begins to head up to the top and Josh stands there looking patient as he heads to what is likely his office. At the 69th floor the elevator stops and a woman's voice is heard in a computer like tone.
"Please state the password to continue."
Josh looks up to where the speakers are and you can see a small microphone.
"Universal Wrestling League."
Josh lowers his head expecting the elevator to continue.
"I am sorry that password is incorrect, please state the correct password or security will be alerted."
Josh furrows his eyebrows trying to think looking obviously upset that his password didn't work.
"God damn it Chang."
"CHANG, password accepted. Enjoy your stay at Eagles Enterprises."
Josh looks up in what looks to be shock that the password worked and shakes his head with a small smile.
"That little devil."
The elevator goes up one floor and the doors open into a very nice looking reception room. The floors, the walls, and the desk are all marble. There are very nice seats with silk covers over the cushions, no expense has been spared and Josh smiles and nods. But he seems to be thrown by the young man sitting behind the reception desk who looks up at him with a quizzical look and starts ruffling through his papers.
"Ummm, I'm very sorry sir could I get your name Ms. Chang doesn't appear to have any visitors today."
"Ms. Chang?"
Josh now casts an eye toward the door beside the desk that says 'Katie Chang . C.O.O'. It only gets more comical because that seems to shock Eagles more then anything from his previous encounters so far.
"I think you'll find that MS. CHANG doesn't need me, being Josh Eagles to make an appointment."
Josh removes his sunglasses and the man behind the desk seems to go white in shock and kind of slink down as Josh heads towards the door and bursts into the office of Ms. Chang very loudly.
"Honey I'm home."
Chang looks up in shock and anger.
"Who the heck do you think you are bursting into my office ... OH!"
Chang is a very pretty woman. Asian with long black hair and a very professional manner about her. She has piercing green eyes and a smile that just flirts between cute and angry all the time. But right now her face was turning an oddly shade of white as Josh looks around what we can assume once used to be his office. It's now turned into a replica Asian paradise.
"Love what you've done with my office. By the way when exactly did you become the Chief Operating Officer of Eagles Enterprises, last I checked I'd have needed to sign off on something like that."
Katie seems very startled by the sudden arrival of Josh Eagles but is quick to gain her composure and judging by the surprise on Josh's face he wasn't expecting it.
"First off don't be rude and close the door behind you."
Katie stands there staring Eagles down waiting for him to close the door with her arms now folded across her chest. Josh doesn't budge for a moment and then finally does and shuts the door.
"Now Mr. Eagles I want you to understand something and let me make this clear. This is a company and the purpose of the company is to make money. When it's C.E.O and Owner takes off and goes and plays 'I'm a Wrestler' across the damn globe someone needs to step up and take control of the wheels and keep this place afloat. Now the Board of Directors realized that I am much more then a normal secretary and I was capable of taking on a much bigger role, plus I am the only person in the world who understands your methods. So I was elected by the board to be the acting C.O.O of the company and to be it's figure head until such time as you are to return to your senses and come back."
Katie now raises an eyebrow at Josh in a very matter of fact manner and Josh seems nothing but impressed, but doesn't act like it as he walks across the room and throws his jacket on a chair and flops down into another one.
"Well good for you. Glad everything seems to look to be in tip top shape."
Katie now makes a weird sound from her mouth that dismisses the previous statement of Josh and sits back in her own chair behind the desk.
"As a matter of fact that is very false. Your company is barely managing to hold on because you are the glue that keeps it together. MOST people want to deal directly with you or someone trained by you and since you left most people trained by you have left as well to other companies who were willing to pay them a lot to have the next best thing to Josh Eagles. LUCKILY I was in enough of your little deals that I am able to do a rather good job and keep us in business. You would know this if you ever checked your emails, answered your phone, or maybe checked in at any point in time."
"I don't know what to tell you, I've been busy doing other things."
"Oh yes divorces, marriages, more divorces, some abortions, asshole phases, good guy phases, getting your ass kicked on live tv, and winning championships. We keep a weekly newsletter on what's going on with you because it tends to be quite entertaining watching you get into these messes of yours."
Josh smiles and runs his hand through his hair.
"Well it's good to know at least you care and are paying attention to what's going on with the boss."
"Actually a lot of people are waiting for the accident that puts you out so I can finally take control of the company. Just because you have become some good guy in the wrestling world, doesn't mean a lot of people don't remember the ass that you used to be. Some forgive you, this is a tough business and you have to be cut throat and ruthless, but you brought that to a whole new level Josh."
Josh seems a little bit taken back by what Katie is saying and unsure of how to handle it.
"Umm, ya I guess I did."
Katie looks about ready to tear him a new one when his phone starts going off and he answers it.
"Hello... Yes... Really that's interesting... You don't say?... Well I'd definetly be interested... Two weeks?... Beat the clock?... Count me in, where can we meet to do the paperwork?... Sounds good!... Of course I'm sure... No I'm here right now... I think it's the right call, everything here is under control... Thanks, bye."
"And what was that about may I ask? How is everything here fine?"
Josh slides his phone back into his pocket and looks at Katie for a long hard moment.
"You really are a lot better then I thought, I don't think I ever gave you credit for that. You take a lot and you never let it get you down and you keep fighting just a little bit harder and I have to respect that."
"That's nice your tactics won't work on me. You are about to tell me something I don't want to hear."
"I guess you do know my style pretty well. The person on the phone was a friend of mine, Kurt Noble."
"Yes I've heard of him, he was from that Pro Wrestling FIRE place that went under."
"Closed it's doors, by choice. Anyway yes that is the one. He just gave me an interesting deal and I am choosing to take it."
"This deal would be what exactly?"
"He's bought some shares in a place called Kingdom of Pride and along with Jeremy Sterling they are re-opening it and they offered me a contract to come and work for them and also a chance to compete for their main championship if I do."
The news seems to nearly break Katie. She slams her fist down onto the desk and she looks angry.
"I won't allow it. Everyone figured with PWF closing and you cutting ties with the UWL sometime ago that you would be coming back here to help turn us around and then you show up and I put on a hard face and it's just so what you could throw it all in my face?"
"No it's not that at all Kate! I showed up cause I was thinking of coming back, thinking about getting my old life back together. But I saw how much things have changed, I can feel that nobody really wants me here, they are scared and you ... you've been doing a great job by all accounts I can see."
"I've been barely managing to bail out a sinking ship."
"I don't believe that's true and you know it. I watch the stocks and Eagles Enterprises took a small dip but it's on the rise once again and that's because of your work I take it. I don't think there is a place for me here, I think my place is in the ring entertaining people and competing. My time to retire isn't quite yet."
Josh shrugs his shoulders as though it were fact and Kate shakes her head no.
"It's not going to work like that. I can't run this place without you, this place won't survive without you so it's time you come back and if you have to do this stupid little wrestling thing then you'll be doing both. I've made up my mind and I am coming with you!"
"WHOA! What do you mean? Slow down a moment!"
"This isn't up for discussion. We had a feeling something like this would happen and if I'm with you wherever you are doing your wrestling thing you can't just ignore me and your companies needs. If you feel the need to prove yourself to the world then do it by maintaining all of your responsibilities."
"You make it sound like I am neglecting a child or something?"
"YOU ARE! You gave birth to this company and it does a lot for the world. The charities we support alone are enough to keep this place going. Or are you looking to get a 2nd child aborded because you neglect them for your pride?"
Josh now looks taken back by the comment from Katie. It stung and it left a deep wound and Katie knew it, she was trained by him sorta speak after all.
"I guess I can see where your coming from and clearly I'm not going to change your mind am I?"
"No you need to go out and save your little wrestling world from it's evils instead of running your company then that is what you will do. But I will be by your side making sure your company is afloat."
"So you are kinda going to be like my Pepper Potts and I'm like Iron Man?"
Josh tries to give a sauve smile but is met by a cold stare.
"If you refer me to a comic or movie character again I will slap you. Plus Robert Downey Jr. WAYYY cooler and hotter then you. Your more of a panzy like Bruce Wayne."
"Ouch."
"I only speak in truths. Now let's figure out all the details of your new wrestling contract and figure out how we can get you to the top fastest, so you can get this whole thing out of your system and you can get back to running this place."
Now Josh raises a big eyebrow back at her clearly confused.
"You want to be part of my wrestling life as well?"
"Are you kidding? Every time you do something on your own it turns out poorly and I am not going to watch you make mistakes. I happen to have a degree in sports management and think I can help you a little along the way."
"You know I've kinda been doing this whole thing for a long time. I'm pretty good at handling myself."
"Yes I am sure you are. I mean look at everything it has brought you. You spent a year in the PWF and never captured one title or added one accolade to your record. As a matter of fact since you've been back I think you've managed to win ONE belt over in the PWH and that was how long ago? Josh I am afraid you need a guiding hand, someone to keep you on the straight and narrow and that is going to be me. If you have to do double the work load then so do I!"
"Oh well that sounds like a whole ton of fun."
"It should now let's go grab some lunch and maybe try and figure out who is on this new little Pride roster and who you might end of facing."
Josh nods but I think it's because he feels more the less he has no other choice and grabbing his jacket he heads out with Katie Chang his rather pushy new assistant for lack of a better term. Josh sets out to start the first day of his new life.
That day everything didn't go exactly how I expected it to go, actually it went quite a lot worse then I hoped but I discovered some things and that was important. I discovered that I had other obligations in my life that I needed to focus on, but that I could do them with help and still focus on my true passion. I had no desire to retire and leave the ring, the thrill of the fight, and the love of the fans. Pride was going to become my new home and I was going to make it my house, I was finally going to become the name that mattered in a company no matter what I had to do.
I would find out sometime soon who I would be facing on July 18th but I knew that person was going to be my ticket to make an impact, my ticket to doing something I had never done before. I wanted to be the first major champion in a company, I wanted a chance to go down in the history books as one of the greatest. I had done that twice, the UWL and the POW would hold my name in their books forever. But Pride, I planned on leaving my mark.
