Dang Tommy You did really good
Tommy Hargrove sits on a bench inside Nick Hill’s gym, he has on a one piece wrestling suit, maroon colored, sweat drips down his face and runs into his eyes causing him to squint. Standing across from him wearing a tight pair of blue Speedos’ is Nick Hill, his muscular body is well oiled and the artificial lighting shines off his body like the sun off the moon.
It was nice Nick, I have to admit. Getting my first victory has to rank up there as one of the greatest achievements I’ve ever gotten in my life. I can only hope it translates into next week, I mean, now I’ve really reached the big time.
Nick Hill lets his lips purse up as he flexes in the mirror, he watches as the bulges in his muscles react to various strains then looks amazed as they go back into a relaxed state. Nick winks to himself in the mirror and then begins applying even more baby oil to his ripped skin.
Nick are you listening to me?
Nick seems dazed by how muscular he really is, and really seems into applying the oil to himself. So much so, that everything Tommy has been saying to him, has gone in one ear and out the other.
What? Oh yeah, you finally went from the losers category into the winners, super, although lets be honest did you really beat anybody to get where you are?
Tommy looks perplexed
Well yeah Nick, I took out E.Nygma and Stephen Callaway, both two amazing talents.
Nick cracks a smirk as he continues to admire himself in the mirror
Tommy baby, let me tell you something, E.Nygma is a joke, and Stephen Callaway is an over bloated blow hard who couldn’t wrestle himself out of a wet paper bag. The man claims to always have an angle, and hell that’s true if his angle is looking like he sucks so bad Dani Clarke could take him out. Now I wont deny you the joy of being victorious, but don’t get yourself a big head and expect that performance to carry over to the big match. Hell I have my doubts you can even go toe to toe with Steven Watson Carter let alone guys like Chris Hart or Josh Eagles, a reason exist why they were face to face after the main event at Oblivion, and that reason isn’t just because they are popular, these guys are pretty damn intense.
Tommy looks down at the ground as if any confidence he gained from his victory is slowly being sapped by Nick
Jeez Nick, you don’t want to give me any credit do you? I just got my first professional victory and would appreciate a support. I’m finally starting to see some buzz around my name not to mention I met my hero Christian Kane last week.
Nick smiles and turns away from the mirror, looking at his friend with contempt
Do you realize what happened during that little interaction with Kane? Tommy shrugs his shoulders unknowingly. Well let me tell you Tommy, it made everyone in the back laugh at you. In the matter of about a minute you not only admitted to being a twenty three year old virgin, but you let Christian Kane and his two female companions laugh in your face. Then you did nothing to defend yourself, this reeks of Storm all over again. Listen to me clearly Tommy you acting like a pussy will do nothing to benefit your career, while at the same time doing everything to destroy it.
Tommy looks toward Nick and appears to quiver in shame slightly before talking
I didn’t see anything wrong with Christian and his companions laughing, I mean he has a point right? I’m a joke! Besides what good would it do to stand up to them, I’d rather let things go until necessary, until I’m forced to stand up for myself, like this week. See Nick I get the chance to face so many great wrestlers I’ll finally get a chance to prove myself to everyone and in the process prove I belong here.
Nick doesn’t look convinced
It must be nice having your head in the clouds, do you really think you can stand up to veterans like Chris Hart? How about a former champion just about everywhere he’s ever gone in Josh Eagles? What about a man who has more respect in the ring and out of it than you could ever hope to achieve in Christian Kane? You are lucky to be involved in this match up at all, you got lucky in facing E.nygma and Callaway, I assure you if you faced anybody else last week you’d be in the last chance Rumble with those other losers who couldn’t compete.
Tommy looks a bit depressed, his eyes look toward the ground and his shoulders slump
I might not have the experience of these other guys but I deserve to be there Nick, it wasn’t you in that ring pinning E.nygma and earning the fastest time in the beat the clock match, it was me. It wasn’t you hitting Callaway with “The Tommy Gunn”, it was me. I have given everything I have to be here, I’m not ready to give up on the dream. Also just because you decided to go all douche bag on me and toss out some negative comments am I supposed to just roll over and die. Why don’t you stop being such an ego maniac and stand beside me, help me get better, or are you too busy looking at yourself in the mirror to actually help someone?
Nick looks shocked, firstly because he’s never heard Tommy talk like that, and secondly because Tommy actually stood up for himself
Whoa there tough guy, my plan is working, didn’t you notice how you just stood up for yourself. I mean come on, you told me off, I’ve never seen you do that before in your life. Listen to me Tommy you need to harness that feeling more often, use it in the ring, show these other guys you aren‘t here to be pushed around. Once you learn to stand your ground these other guys will have no choice but to stand up and admit how good you really are. Tommy lifts his shoulders from the slouched position, he holds his head slightly higher. I mean your entire life has been spent trying to avoid confrontation, letting guys like Storm give you shit while you’ve done nothing. It’s time for that to stop, use this match as a chance to establish yourself, use this match to become a champion.
Tommy looks toward the sky feeling mighty proud that Nick praised him, like a proud school boy on prom night
You really think I have a shot a being champion?
Nick looks a bit confused at Tommy’s sudden influx of confidence. Nick not wanting to kill Tommy’s budding confidence has to make a decision while at the same time straying truthful to his friend. Nick does what comes naturally, he acts like a complete and utter self centered douche bag
No you can’t win! Although you can use it as a stepping stone, allow this match to shoot you towards greatness, you know later on. Tommy seems to deflate quite a bit. Don’t let that get you down though Tommy, I don’t think anyone actually thinks you can win the title. The words seem to cut deeper after each one flows from Nick’s tanned and oiled lips. I mean what do you expect, this is only your third professional fight, hell it took me till my fifth fight before people began to take me seriously. Take a good listen to what I suggest, go out there, put up the best possible fight you can, and who knows, maybe you can surprise a few people by taking out some of the weaker guys. You know Obscene, Kaard, or maybe even that Carter fellow, heck stranger things have happened.
Tommy’s confidence has seemingly extinguished completely
Yeah I guess, I shouldn’t shoot too high, but I don’t consider any of the people in the match as a lesser figure? So how do I pick who to go after first, I don’t want to go out there and look bad. I mean this is the biggest stage I’ve ever been on, I can’ look like a complete and utter failure. I need to earn some major kudos which could stick with me the rest of my career. I can use this match as a preview of what’s to come, what my future has in store, so even if I don’t win I can show people I am improving.
Nick shakes his head
Yeah well I suppose, but you need to improve a lot on what you did last week, I mean come on now Tommy, Callaway is pretty sucktastic and you nearly let him get the upper hand on you. Nick shakes his head in disgust. You really need to start listening to me, I showed you a way to counter everything that little weasel threw at you, and you still seemed to struggle, if it wasn’t for that last ditch suplex I taught you, things could have been drastically different. I mean really brother, Stephen had you caught up and man o’ man you got so lucky.
Tommy listens intently as Nick talks, he seems to disagree with quite a bit of it.
Nick how come you refuse to give me any credit. When I do well, it’s almost as if you put me down to make yourself feel better. Kind of like when we were in high school, only it’s worse now because I’ve grown up. Yet you still seem stuck in that same sophomoric personality you had in school, treating people like you are better than them. I am trying to be your friend Nick but you don’t want me to. I really think by now you should have grown up, and gotten out of those childish ways.
Nick seems incensed by Tommy’s comment
Look Tommy, I came to you, I took you under my wing, I’ve helped you train your body, I’ve helped you straighten out your mind. I introduced you to the world of professional wrestling, I’m trying to help you find a female and all you can offer me in return is insults. You want to walk around moping all the time, well shit, that is why people walk all over you. I want to show you that the world isn’t’ peaches and cream, it’s filled with assholes trying to put themselves ahead. Tommy you need to stand up and take charge, because trust me the only way for others to treat you with respect is for you to stand up and put them in their place.
Tommy understands where Nick is going with his comments but can’t figure out how to be assertive while at the same time treating people fairly
I know where you are going with this Nick, but I just can’t bring myself to treat people poorly, even people I am about to fight or those who’ve done me wrong. I was so mad at Storm for calling me fat, and I was even madder when I saw he wasn‘t going to apologize, but truth be told, if I let little things like that get me down I’d never be able to better my life. This weekend I am going to enter a match with a chance to win the Valiant championship, and I don’t intent to lose.
Nick looks impressed
I hear your words but do you mean them Tommy?
Tommy seems reserved but knows that he needs to start making a stand right here and right now if he wants any chance to win.
I won’t put down the people I’m facing because I know that isn’t how I’ll be victorious, I need hard work and determination, I need to want it more than them. Both Chris Hart and Josh Eagles have been champions multiple times, they may talk the talk but deep down I know this is just another match for them. How motivated can they really be? Besides I am fairly certain both of them are preoccupied with other things, like trying to market themselves, while I could care less about those things. Furthermore, while I haven’t won anything in my entire life, I’ve been pushed down, held back and treated like scum. I want this win more than anything I’ve ever wanted in my life.
Nick seems to disagree and looks a little troubled by Tommy’s statement
So let me get this straight you want to win this match up more than you’d want to poke some random hot chick in the butt?
Tommy shakes his head knowing Nick would never understand
Winning the Valiant championship would be more important to me than having sex with a hundred of the hottest actresses in Hollywood. This victory could help me cement myself as a winner, it could change the way people view me, and it would erase the past thusly making people respect me.
Nick appears to understand but it’s obvious he’s uninterested. He could careless about what Tommy is saying. His feelings become even more obvious as he starts to flex in the mirror once more
See Nick, Christian Kane probably wants to win this belt just for the vanity it would give him, the legs it would open up for him, but truth be told he doesn’t need the belt for that. Him just giving a quick wink of his eye does that already, he wants to win for very selfish reasons and those reasons just don’t equal why I want to win. He can have any female he wants, he can beat any one he wants, but he doesn’t have the motivation, the…
Nick stops looking into the mirror
Eye of the tiger right?
Tommy smiles as he realizes Nick finally gets what Tommy has been saying, Nick in contrast just wants Tommy to shut up so the pair can get back to training.
Yeah right Nick, I have that, I have my eye on the prize and I realize nothing could be better for my life, both on a personal and professional level. Kane will never understand that, I respect and honor that man with ever fiber of my being Nick looks a bit confused in a is Tommy Homosexual kind of way which leads me into Steven Carter and Justin Kaard, both of these men are true professionals but unlike myself does either of them have the drive or desire to be the champion. Have either of them had their head driven into a toilet filled with someone’s excrement, has either of them been shoved into lockers overnight, then as they watched the sun go down realize nobody cared enough to come look for them. Have either of these men been treated like an outcast, been voted most likely to fail. I have been there Nick and trust me it hurts, it hurts really bad
Nick wants to empathize with his friend but he’s never felt that way
I’ll take your word for that Tommy, I’ve never been there, and quite frankly don’t think I ever will be.
Tommy just ignores the rude comment by Nick and continues on in his speech
I know pain, I know how bitter life can be, none of these other men know this pain. It’s time I learned how sweet life can be, do you understand Nick. I want this so bad I can feel it in the pit of my stomach, it’s almost as if I’m hungry, but not for food…
Nick interrupts
For once
Tommy once again ignores the ignorant comment
I want this so bad Nick, I will do whatever it takes to win, but like the meatloaf song I won’t do that.
Nick looks confused
Won’t do what?
Just like the Meatloaf song I don’t need to answer that question it’s more metaphorical than anything else, I just know that when the match finally arrives I’ll leave it all out there, I plan on giving one hundred and ten percent. If I don’t manage to win, it won’t hold me back though, I won’t let it drag me down, I’ll hold my head up high and keep moving on to the next one. Until I win that championship I’ll maintain the eye of the tiger.
Nick cheers for his pal, only half heartedly as the reality is Nick cares only about himself and no one else.
