The scene opens with Alex Avice, standing in a hallway, in front of a Kingdom of Pride banner. Avice lifts the microphone to his lips, looks into the camera and begins to speak.
"Hello and welcome fans of the Kingdom of Pride, my name is Alex Avice, and I have an exclusive backstage interview with young up-and-comer, a former champion in his own right, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the 'Epitome of Epic'...Bruce Hendrickson!"
The camera pans to the right just enough to see Bruce walk on-screen, holding his European Championship with one hand on his shoulder.
"Hi Bruce, I scheduled this time for you and I, now that you're officially a part of the Kingdom roster, I figured this would be a good way to showcase what you are all about to our fans."
"...Thanks, I guess. Because after all, there isn't anything else in the world, like being interviewed by a tool."
"I suppose I'll take that as some kind of a backwards compliment. Moving along though, I want to talk today about your most recent foray into Kingdom action. For the first time in your career here, you had a real opponent, and...well, you got to know what it means to flounder in your own defeat. Your thoughts?"
"Flounder? Defeat? I believe you got it all wrong, Avice; I'm pretty sure it was P.K. who was left face-first on the mat after I leveled his ass with my patented 3-point stance clothesline. Sure, he won last week. Big whoop. It's only a random weekly show, it doesn't mean much. All that really matters, is the supercard--a place where I am undefeated at an astonishing 6-0 record--by the way."
"Really? Is that how you feel? Because he has the momentum, he's the unstoppable force right now--"
"...How EXACTLY does he have the momentum? Were you not listening to me just now? I left him laying, a pile in the ring. How exactly does one gain momentum from that? I mean, unless your name is Rey Mysterio, and you get better by taking an ass kicking..."
"Okay, fair enough."
"You see, Avice, I am a champion. What is P.K. anyway? What has he accomplished? Oh, right...absolutely nothing. The kid got a lucky shot last week. Even rookies get lucky, Avice...but that doesn't validate them. That's why I challenged him to a rematch last week."
"But if you were really all that you claim to be...why didn't you just beat him, last week?"
Bruce stops in mid-thought, casting an icy glare at Alex Avice. The tension appears so thick, you could cut it with a knife.
"What did you just say!?"
"I-I mean i-it's nothing!"
"You're damn right it's nothing," Bruce regains his composure, "As I told you, he got lucky. he cheated to beat me last week. Not that I could blame him though. I mean, for a rookie like him, to get a pinfall victory over someone the likes of me? Well now, that could do wonders for his career. That is, of course, if he had what it takes to make it in this industry. Which he obviously doesn't."
"Well that was quite...'enlightening'. Bruce, I'm sorry but I'm almost out of time. Do you have any last words for P.K. Jacob-Sterling this week?"
"Yes. P.K. this week we go at each other one on one, and this week don't expect to be able to cheat your way to a victory. I will defeat you because I am the 'Epitome of Epic'. And you, well...aren't."
Bruce turns and walks off, drawing this segment to a fade.
