For the first time since arriving in America, this was easy. Of course, a glance at the win/loss record would lead you to believe that there had been no adjustment period. The undefeated Krieg Maschinen had absolutely manhandled and dismantled their opponents since the bell rang in their first match. However, outside of the ring, the duo and their handler had been forced to deal with situations that they had never encountered before, such as providing for themselves. Thanks to Johnny Noble and Jason Summers, Kaja Reinhardt was finally feeling confident enough to take in the glory of victory.
“And then…” Kaja made an exaggerated motion and thrust her thumb into the air. “Then Somba finish him…hahaaa.” The German beauty twirled around and stumbled backwards into a Volkswagon Jetta. She took a deep breath and stared up at the glowing moon. The southern air and night sky were calming and beautiful. A smile crept onto Kaja Reinhardt’s face as she remembered last week’s bought. “Next week, we are facing two men who cannot even compare to the Maschinen in any way. We will surely win yet another battle. I feel pride.”
“I bet you do,” Jason Summers laughed as he watched the petite girl babble on and on about her job. “From the sound of it, you’re doing pretty well for yourself.”
“Pretty well?” Kaja laughed. She leaned up off the car and inched closer to her neighbor. “Pretty well?” She smirked and raised an eyebrow.
“What?” Jason asked, confused. “What do you want me to say?”
“Not pretty well,” she laughed as he dove forward and embraced him with a hug. “Great. We have done great job. No defeat.” She released Jason and looked up at the room where the Maschinen were probably sleeping. “No man can defeat der Krieg Maschinen.”
“It doesn’t mean they won’t try,” Jason chuckled. “How many did you have anyways?” Obviously, the German beauty had had a few too many beers throughout the night. Celebrating the dominance of the Maschinen, they had gone out to a local pizza parlor and shared a dinner. Kaja had even brought a second pizza back to feed Balraj and Somba. “You’re pretty drunk.”
“Off American beer?” She chuckled. “Not possible. In Germany the beer is much stronger…”
“In Germany…” Jason said mockingly. “Miss Reinhardt, sometimes I think that you don’t find any redeeming value in America at all.”
“Hey,” Kaja said as she held her arms out. “This is not true. America is very nice.” She looked around the parking lot, noticing how still everything was on this particular night. “I mean…it’s no Germany, but you know…”
“Oh, of course not,” Jason offered sarcastically. “Germany is ze greatest country in ze verld. That’s why you’re here instead of there, right?”
“Oooh,” Kaja held a finger over her lips. “You do not know why I’m here, Jason. You want to know, but you never will. I could leave at any moment, too…back to my homeland.” She shrugged. “You never know.”
“That would be a shame,” Jason said, looking down at the ground.
“Shame?” Kaja looked around confused. “Why shame? I have no ties in America. I have made sure of that. Even Mr. Noble knows that my employment is only temporary. It is what it is.”
Jason looked at Kaja, her blue eyes glistening as she daydreamed about returning to Germany and leaving America behind. Without thinking, he leaned in and kissed her. At first, she did not resist. However, as the situation processed in her mind, she pushed her neighbor away and took several steps backwards.
“Jason…” She gasped, shocked at his forwardness. “We are friends. Why would you…?”
“In America, friends kiss all the time…it’s not that big of a deal. I just realized that you could be leaving at any moment and I would be kicking myself if I never got a chance to kiss you.” He shrugged, feeling as if getting his feelings out in the open would help her to fall for him as well.
“Well, I do not care what the custom is…” Kaja glared. Tears began to form in her eyes at the shock of Jason’s sudden advancement. Before he could apologize, Kaja stormed off. Jason Summers put both hands on his head, confused by what had just happened. He shook his head and watched as Kaja shuffled off towards her room.
Kaja, with tears in her eyes, thrust open the door to room 417 to find the Maschinen both sitting at the foot of their beds. Somba, who was closest to the door, leapt to his feet in shock of seeing Kaja so emotional. He grunted, attempting to discover what was annoying his ally. The confusion caused Balraj to also spring to his feet. The Maschinen both grunted back and forth, unable to properly understand what was happening beyond one thing: Kaja had been hurt. The giant Balraj turned his eyes to the window, seeing Jason Summers pacing in the parking lot. His nostrils flared as he knew that this man was responsible…
Kaja closed the door behind her, attempting to smile for the Maschinen. However, she was unable to convincingly hold the smile for long. She walked forward and put her hand on the shoulders of both men. Knowing that neither would be able to communicate, she uttered under her breath in her native German tongue. “It is okay, Somba…It is okay, Balraj…it is just another lesson that I had to learn about America.”
But for Balraj, her words provided little comfort. He cast his piercing glare back towards Jason Summers. This man had wronged Kaja Reinhardt in some way…and this man was going to pay for what he had done.

The man from Russia grunted as he lowered the weight towards his chest and pushed it outward. He had discovered Germany’s greatest secret, which they were foolish enough to place in plain view of anyone willing to look closely. As he did his reps, his mind was filled with ideas…none of them were beneficial to der Krieg Maschinen. Unlike these German monsters, the Winter Soldier Project was well known amongst the world’s governments. Russia had invested money into training the best of the best, spawning a branch of Spetsnaz forces that were even more vicious and brutal than the rest. Since discretion was not a primary concern, nothing was stopping this ma from showing up to the Kingdom of Pride arena and exposing the German monsters to the rest of the world. All he had to do was bide his time.
Until then, he continued to do reps. He continued to train. One day soon, the Krieg Maschinen would know of the Winter Soldier. Unfortunately for them, he would not be coming alone. The only question was…who could be strong enough to join forces with this man in his quest to end the Maschinen’s reign of dominance? Unfortunately, the German behemoths would not like The Answer.
Holding in the anger at Jason Summers was making the Maschinen on edge, looking for an excuse to deal out punishment to anyone around them. Unfortunately for Callaway and Hargrove, they were slated to face the well oiled, destructive machine next week. The Maschinen were showing no chance of slowing down…but that didn’t stop the Winter Soldier from plotting to derail their best laid plans. Only time could tell what was in store of the Maschinen, but it did not take a psychic to see the destruction that they were capable of causing. Unfortunately for Stephen Callaway and Tommy Hargrove…they were next in line.
